My family moved from Thorntown after my Freshman year. I went to a different school for each grade in high school (not a particularily fun thing to do...). I finished my Senior year in Peabody, Kansas, the small town I where I was born, and it was a good place to be. It was much like Thorntown...small school and great classmates.
Eventually, I ended up in Orlando, Florida where I met and married Chuck in 1968. He was a corpsman in the Navy and spent 1970-71 in Vietnam. When he returned home we settled in Orlando while he completed his education. We lived in Florida until 1980, moved to Utah for four years and then Alaska for 19 years. During that time I completed my M.Ed and spent time teaching at the University of Alaska.
We retired to North Florida in 2002, built our dream house in a quiet town on the Gulf and planned to stay there forever. Then, our only child, who lived in Greenville, SC, told us we were going to be grandparents, so in 2006 we bought a house in SC so we could be close to our grandson.
I have been teaching adjunct at Greenville Technical College for two years and hope to continue as long as I can. However, we love to travel, even it it is just for a few days, so when work starts to interfere with fun, it'll have to go.
Wearing cat-eye glasses is what I remember most! And the pictures in the year book...well, it sure would be nice if I could Photoshop them out!
