I graduated from Ball State with a BS in nursing education and had a career in pediatric nursing. During that time I traveled with Ship HOPE to Nicaragua and was also a part of Operation Classroom in Liberia Africa. Our youngest son lives in Denver and has an upholstry business for fitness equipment. Our oldest son lives in Oklahoma City, is married and has 4 children. He has his own business, also, repairing and installing fitness equipment. We are active in the Castleton United Methodist Church. I enjoy doing crafts.
I was very proud of THS and, since I had not been to very many other schools, I thought it was huge. We had great teachers, for the most part and I can recall all their names and faces. I remember when I was in 3rd grade and we had just had a talk about carrying matches to school. Pockets were to be checked that afternoon. I walked with Jeanie Johnson part of the way as we were going home for lunch. When we got to her corner she pulled a pack of matches out of her pocket. She said she had gone with her mother to burn trash in the backyard and had put the matches in her pocket, planning to put them on the kitchen counter....but she forgot. So we decided we should get rid of the matches so the teachers wouldn't find them in her pocket. We made a bad decision and decided to strike them all....getting rid of them. Syvia Tony was passing by on the other side of the street....and you know the rest of the story. She told the teacher what she had seen and Mr. Woodburn gave both of us a paddling. I cried so hard, I couldn't turn off the motor the rest of the day!! That was so embarrassing for me, but it sure taught me a lesson. More kids now days should get spanked and maybe they would learn a lesson before their actions go out of hand.
