Michael James Stevens, 74, of Logansport, passed away on September 21, 2020 in his home surrounded by his family.

Michael was born on May 26, 1946 to Maurice and Berthella (Whitmeyer) Stevens in Mishawaka, IN.  He was the oldest of their six children.  Michael Stevens graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelors Degree in Ag Education in 1969.  In that same year, he was married to Suzanne Gant on September 16, 1969 in Thorntown, IN.  They recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.

After graduation from Purdue, Michael was employed by Lewis Cass High School teaching Agriculture, then managed the Case Power and Equipment store in Logansport until it closed in 1987.  He spent the remainder of his working years selling yellow page advertising in the central Indiana region.

Michael was a member of the Logansport Noon Kiwanis, Cass County Young Farmers, Jaycees, Tip-Wa Tractor Club, and the J.I. Case Collectors Association.  Mike was President of Jaycees when the group decided to help save Logansport’s Dentzel Carousel.  Mike enjoyed working on his 26 acre farm south of Logansport.  He found pleasure in operating his farm equipment, hosting countless hayrides, and participating in numerous antique tractor drives.  During his life, he planted over 5,000 trees on their property, collected Case farm equipment, and enjoyed reading / traveling.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Suzanne and four sons, Jefferson (Jennifer) Stevens, Indianapolis; Benjamin (Jennifer) Stevens, Warsaw; Theodore (Heather) Stevens, Walkerton; Zachary (Lindsey) Stevens, Kokomo; five grandsons, Connor Stevens, Owen Stevens, August Stevens, Oliver Stevens, Ezra Stevens; four granddaughters, Carley Stevens, Anna Stevens, Amelia Stevens and Avery Stevens; 3 brothers, Pat, Tom and Kerry Stevens; and 2 sisters Jyoti Rae and Julie DuVal.

A celebration gathering of friends and family will be held from 4 – 7 pm Friday September 25, 2020 in the Gundrum Funeral Home.
