Robert J Howe, 61

Robert James Howe, 61, died Thursday, August 1, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, from complications following surgery for liver cancer.

Howe was born December 4, 1934, in Frankfurt, the son of the late Bernie and Mary L (Caufman) Howe. He was married in Thornton have on September 4, 1954 to Mary L (Bailey) Howe who survives.

He was raised in Mechanicsburg and graduated from Thorntown High School in 1954.

Howe worked for J and L Steele, Lebanon, for 10 years. He also worked as a carpenter, then worked for the Peter Paul Candy Company in Frankfurt for 15 years. He had also farmed. Since 1979, he was a self employed truck driver associated with Geisler trucking, Lebanon.

He was a member of the Lebanon Church of Christ.

In addition to the wife, he is survived by daughters Wanda L Baird, Thorntown, and Linda D Doke, Clarks Hill, a brother Richard L Howe, Mulberry; a sister, Barbara J Smith, Thorntown; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A brother preceded him in death.

Services are planned at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Myers Chapel of Memories, Lebanon, with Dan Ford officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfurt. Visitation is Friday from 4 to 8 PM at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Riley Children's Hospital, Indianapolis.
