Joan Moffitt

September 26, 1925 - February 3, 2020

Mrs. Joan Moffitt, 94, of Thorntown passed away Feb. 3, 2020, at Homewood Health Campus.

Joan was born Sept. 26, 1925 in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Earl and Lena (Roberts) Caldwell. She was married to Bob Moffitt who died in 2004. They had been married for 57 years.

Joan was a graduate of Lebanon High School. She was a garment sewer for a textile factory in Thorntown for 19 years and then worked for Mallory's in Frankfort for 12 years. Joan and her late husband loved to square dance and spend time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joan was a member of New Beginnings Church in Thorntown.

Survivors include her son, Edward (Robin) Moffitt of Thorntown and daughter, Colleen Ghilardi of Atlanta, GA; a granddaughter, Emily (Michael) Nance of Lebanon and grandchildren, Lucas Shirley, Gunner Shirley, Easton Nance and Harper Nance; and a sister, Carolyn Coffman of Atlanta, GA. In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lindsay Landon; a brother, Leland Caldwell; and brother-in-law, Harry Coffman.

Family and friends will gather Friday, Feb. 7, 2020 for visitation from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
