Rita Blanche (Woodard) Muncie Allen passed away peacefully at Witham Health Services on Jan. 8, 2014 following a very short diagnosis of melanoma cancer.

Rita was born in Crawfordsville on July 27, 1946, to the late Clifford and Edna (Yaryan) Woodard. Rita spent her youth growing up in Jamestown and Thorntown, attending school in Thorntown.

On May 18, 1963 she married Edward “Ed” Muncie following him to France where they resided for three years while Mr. Muncie served in the US Army. Upon returning stateside they settled in Lebanon and raised three children together until divorcing. Rita later married Leon Allen whom preceded her in death in Feb. 1998.

Mrs. Allen was a graduate of J Everett Light LPN Nursing School. During her career she used her nursing degree and skills working at WHS, as a civilian Army nurse at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ortho Indy, and finished her career with Wellpoint Anthem.

Mrs. Allen occupied her time writing poetry and drawing and painting. She relished watching the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning.

Rita loved being with her family. She will be greatly missed by her children: Shannon (Russell) Metzger and Stacey (Adam) Tanselle, both of Lebanon and Scott (Glenda) Muncie of Kempton. Her memory and spirit will live on in her grandchildren: Jason and Morgan Metzger, Lacey Muncie, Madilyn Hedge and Knottey Tanselle, all of Lebanon and Cheyenne Braumbaugh, Alexia, Kaedon, Brielle, and Jaxson Muncie of Kempton. In addition to her children and grandchildren she is survived by siblings, Larry (Sharon) Woodard and Carole Wright of Lebanon and several nieces and nephews.

In Heaven she will be greeted not only by her parents and husband but also by sisters, Phyllis Rosselot and Naomi Briles; and brothers, Marlin, Charlie, Tommy, Edgar and Devon Woodard.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, Jan. 10, from 12 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. The Rev. Scott Mauch will officiate. Rita will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
