Charles Susong 1947-2014     

Charles Susong, 66, of Thorntown, and a resident of Homewood Health Campus, Lebanon, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born July 7,1947, in Lebanon, to Herbert and Blanche (Hungerford) Susong, and was preceded in death by his father.

Charles is survived by his mother; sister, Ouida (Frank) Norris of Greenfield; three sons, John (Heidi) Susong, Michael (Melissa) Susong and Patrick (Holly) Susong, all of Lebanon; grandchildren, Anne Marie, Joe, Jacob, Ava and Lyla; niece, Natalie (Bill) Klenotic of Greenfield; and nephew, Ty Norris of Indianapolis. Charles had numerous relatives in Louisiana.

He graduated from Thorntown High School in 1965, and received a scholarship from Howard Johnson’s. He attended Purdue University.

Charles loved the arts and enjoyed many happy hours at art museums. He volunteered at the Sugar Creek Art Center in Thorntown, and was happiest giving tours at the center and selling art. He also enjoyed very much, traveling from Maine to California with his father. He was a very giving and loving person who engaged in humorous conversations with friends and strangers.

The family of Charles would like to thank the staff of Homewood Health Campus for their kind and compassionate care. He made many friendships while at Homewood.

Prayer Services will begin at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Visitation will follow from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Timothy Kroeger officiating. Burial will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
