Gordon Wesley Wait

December 3, 1944 - October 11, 2022

 

Gordon Wesley Wait, 77, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022 at the Waters of Lebanon.

Gordon was born on December 3, 1944 in Thorntown, the son of the late Donald and Marjorie (Woody) Wait.

 Gordon graduated from Thorntown High School in 1963. After high school, he worked as a clerk for the Federal Reserve Bank in Indianapolis for 30 years as well as a security guard for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for over 40 years.

He was a lifelong resident of Lebanon and Thorntown. Gordon was a member of the Boone County Senior Citizens where he enjoyed playing euchre. Gordon was an avid attendee of the Lebanon High School basketball games and was well-versed in the area history of the game.  Additionally, he loved watching movies, baseball, and auto racing, playing bingo and spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include a son, David (Andrea) Wait; grandchildren, Rebecca and Elizabeth Wait; sister- in-law, Phyllis Wait; and brother-in-law, Lance Bollinger.

In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his siblings Richard (Jeanne) Wait, Keith Wait and Janice Bollinger.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, Oct. 22, for visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Gordon will be laid to rest at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
