Carol Woodard (Wright) - Class Of 1961

Carol Woodard (Wright)

Carole Anne (Woodard) Wright, 72, of Lebanon, passed away Friday, Dec.19, 2014, at Witham Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 25, 1942, in Jamestown, a daughter of the now late Clifford Edgar and Edna Anne (Yaryan) Woodard.

Carole graduated from Thorntown High School. She attended Vincennes University, where she studied psychology and pursued a career in nursing, business and education.

On March 29, 1961, she was married to Luther V. “L.V.” Wright in Lebanon. Mr. Wright survives.

For many years, Carole worked as a nurse’s aide in area health care facilities.

Carole was a devoted and active member of the First Baptist Church, where she held the position of Sunday school teacher and Vacation Bible School leader. She was on the board of education while she was raising her children. She was an active member of the Lebanon Kiwanis Club and a former member of the Smile Awhile Home Economics Club and the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. Carole enjoyed volunteering at the Boone County Health Department. Recently, she attended Pleasant View Church of Lebanon.

She had a vast knowledge of various subjects as she held many interests. She enjoyed genealogy, working on the history of both sides of her family and her husband’s family. In addition, she enjoyed working in her flower garden, reading, crafts, and being involved with her grandchildren and their activities. Traveling was wonderful relaxation for her. One of her most memorable events was flying a small aircraft on her birthday. Carole loved being with family and friends, and always had a funny joke to tell to make them laugh. She will be missed by all.

Survivors include her husband, Luther “L.V.” Wright of Lebanon; three sons, Duane V. Wright and K. (Amber) Wright, all of Lebanon, and Darrin N. (Tammy) of Erin, Tenn.; one daughter, Angela Deanne (Wright) (Chad) Luper of Whitestown; five grandchildren, Angela Michele Wright, Christa Leanne Luper, Mathew Stephen Luper, Logan Daniel Luper and Nathaniel Quinn Wright; and several nieces and nephews.
