Keith Wait - Class Of 1959

Keith Adrian Wait, 75

Keith Adrian Wait, 75 of Lafayette Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at IU Health Arnett Hospital. Born on December 18, 1940 in Thorntown Indiana, he was son of the late Donald and Marjorie (Woody) Wait. He graduated in 1959 from Thorntown High School, and then attended Indiana Barber College in Indianapolis. He was a barber for over 50 years. He first started his journey at the Union Building at Purdue, and later worked at other shops around Lafayette. He was later the owner of "Keith Barbershop". He also barbered all around Indiana in places such as Colfax, Lebanon, Indy, Demotte, and Munster.

Later he started own sharpening service that was called "Keith's Sharpening Service". He serviced the Indiana area from Gary to Indy. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Phillis Woudema Wait; 2 children, son Darren of Lafayette, and daughter Michelle Delapaz (Brian) of Lafayette, along with 4 grandchildren. Also surviving include his sister Janice Bollinger (Lance) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, 2 brothers from Lebanon: Richard (Jean) and Gordon. Memorial Service will be planned for a later date.

Russell Crawford (1960)

I remember walking into the barbershop at Purdue in 1961 and seeing Keith standing behind an empty chair. Down I plopped and Keith began to do his thing. He did a great job!

Keith found his passion in life - he wanted to be a great barber and he was. I envied Keith and I wish I would have told him so before he passed.
