Leland Caldwell - Class Of 1958

Mr. Lelan “Red” Caldwell, 77, of Thorntown, Indiana, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at his residence in Thorntown, Indiana. He was born in Elizaville, Indiana, on April 19, 1939, a son of the late Earl Caldwell and Lena Marie (Roberts) Caldwell. 

A lifelong resident of Boone County, Red was a 1958 graduate of Thorntown High School. 

In July 1959, he was married to Virginia (Daniels) Caldwell. She survives.

Red spent his career working for Hankins Food Market in Thorntown. After he graduated, he became the meat cutter and continued working for them until his retirement in 2004. 

He was a devoted husband and father, and grandfather. Red enjoyed fishing, reading and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

Private Funeral Services were held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Myers and Hunt Mortuary, 116 West Plum Street, Thorntown, Indiana.
Interment took place at Bethel Cemetery in rural Boone County.

Deceased: In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Robert Moffitt.
