Helen Ruth Mansholt

Mrs. Helen Ruth Mansholt, 79, of Lebanon, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Westminster Village North in Indianapolis.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1934, in Boone County, a daughter of the now late Roy Berraman and Clara Isabell (Lynch) Bowen.

Reared and educated in Thorntown, she graduated from Thorntown High School in 1952.

She was first married to Jack Crouch from 1953 to 1963. And on Sept. 4, 1964, she married Kenneth Paul Mansholt in Lebanon. Mr. Mansholt passed away on Oct. 6, 2012.

Helen was an employee of Montgomery Ward in Lebanon. She later worked for Citizens Bank and Trust Company in Lebanon, AFNB in Indianapolis and then in a part-time position at National City Bank in Lebanon before retiring in 2000.

An active church member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lebanon, Helen served on many church committees. She was devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her hobbies included reading, gardening and traveling.

Survivors include two children, Mr. Kenneth Scott Mansholt and wife Heather of Naperville, Ill.; and Mrs. Brenda Kay Doxsee and husband King of Indianapolis; sister Mrs. Nina Caldwell and husband Gerald of Thorntown; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Laura Bowen of Kokomo, and Mrs. Marjorie Bowen of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Andrew Mansholt, Justin Mansholt, McKenzie Mansholt, Luke Doxsee, and Alex Doxsee; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Helen was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Bowen and Frank Bowen; and two sisters, Margaret Evans and Edna Pethtel.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2625 Elm Swamp Road, on Wednesday, May 29.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church on Wednesday, May 29, with the Rev. Scott Mauch officiating.

Interment will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.

Arrangements are entrusted to Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon.
