Clyde Robert “Bob” Linton, 80, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Hendricks County, Indiana on November 18, 1934, a son of the late Darwin and Betty Linton..


Bob graduated from Thorntown High School in 1952. He joined the Marines in 1954 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina until 1956. During that time he met and married his wife, Shelby Jean (Gore) Linton on December 26, 1955. They have spent their lives together and raised their family in Thorntown, Indiana. He had worked for Standard Oil Company (Linton Station) until retirement.

Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Bob was a member of the Mechanicsburg Christian Church, American Legion Post 113, and the Thorntown Lion’s Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carl.

Survivors include: wife, Shelby; children, Tony Linton and wife, Mary, Robin Mitchell and husband, Butch, Marsha Freese and husband, Brian, Steve Linton and wife, Alicia and Tracy White; brothers, Lee, Byron, and Harold; sisters, Darcella Branagin and Sharon McLaughlin; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Private Graveside services with military rites will be held at Cox Cemetery on August 1, 2015. 
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the American Legion Post 113, 1020 West Hendricks Drive, Lebanon, Indiana from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

 

Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana have been entrusted with the arrangements.
