Benny H. Osborne - Class Of 1951

Benny H. Osborne

Benny Osborne, 85, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017, at St. Vincent Regional Hospital in Anderson, Indiana. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on April 21, 1931, the son of the late Ben and Mary Jane Osborne. 

Ben was a 1951 graduate of Thorntown High School. Following high school he enlisted in the United State Marine Corp and served his country with honor during the Korean War. Ben received a Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Ribbon and a United States Service Ribbon. 

He began his working career as a truck driver with Emge Packing Co. and continued to work there for over 40 years. 

Ben was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an animal lover as well. Ben was a devoted companion, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. His memberships included Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 0127 and the Forty and Eight Veterans Organization. 


Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Myers & Hunt Mortuary, 116 West Plum Street, Thorntown, Indiana.
Funeral Services are planned for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home in Thorntown, Indiana with Rev. Tim Warrum, officiating. 
Interment with Military Rites will follow services at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown, Indiana.

Deceased: In addition to his parents, Benny was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
