Gerald D. White, 85, passed on Nov. 21, 2015, in Jacksonville, Fla. He was born Aug. 22, 1930, to Oscar and Edna White.

Gerald graduated from Thorntown High School and Canterbury College. He then served in the Armed Forces with the Central Intelligence Division of the Army in Germany.

He became president and general manager of the Thorntown Telephone Co., from where he retired. While in Thorntown, he enjoyed serving as the Little League Baseball president, the Volunteer Fire Department chief and on the Boone County Development Board of Directors.

He and Lu Ann then retired to Florida in 1993 to pursue as much golf as they could possibly squeeze in. Gerald's golf career was highlighted with his 5 holes-in-one and several eagles.

Survivors include his three sons, Rick (Oklahoma City), Dan (Lebanon) and Steve (Jacksonville, Fla.). 
A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Thorntown Little League Association to assist in building strong futures for the children of Thorntown.
