Robert E. Taylor 1923-2014

Mr. Robert Earl Taylor, 91, of Lebanon, passed away Friday, Feb. 07, 2014, at Signature Healthcare Center at Parkwood in Lebanon.

Robert was born Jan. 30, 1923, in Thorntown, a son of the now late Ralph V. and Bryul (Joseph) Taylor. He was a lifelong resident of Boone County, with the exception of one year spent in Indianapolis. In 1923, he and his family returned to Thorntown and he graduated from Thorntown High School in 1942. Following school Robert enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during World War II. He earned the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge.

He was first married to Dorothy Arney and they divorced. On Sept. 2, 1967, he married Myrtle L. James in Thorntown. Mrs. Taylor passed away on March 3, 2001.R

Robert worked, handling the hogs, for the Hoosier Veterinary Laboratories in Thorntown for 25 years. He spent two years at the Streamline Trailer Company and 13 years at Lau Blower, retiring in November 1988.

Survivors include his son, Phil J. Taylor of Boston, Mass.; brother, Richard A. (Olvena) Taylor of Indianapolis; nephew, Stanley (Sue) Puckett of Carmel; and two grandchildren, Scott Andrew Taylor and Sean Taylor. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; a sister, Naomi Puckett; and a niece, Madge Wethington.

Family graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown. No Visitation is planned.  Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, is handling the arrangements for burial. Online condolences may be made at www.myersmortuary.com
