Susanna “Sue” (Flaningam) Hamilton

Susanna “Sue” (Flaningam) Hamilton, 94, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Thorntown, passed away June 8, 2013, while surrounded by her children.

Sue was born to Lester and Edith (Woody) Flaningam in Thorntown. She was a graduate of the University of Michigan and a member of the Tri Delta Sorority.

She dedicated much of her life to the service of others through volunteering in the Fort Wayne community organizations including the Red Cross, Art League, Museum of Art and the Christmas Bureau and P.E.O. She was a 50-year member of First Presbyterian Church and served on the Chancel Guild.

Sue was an avid golfer, and she Marvin were members of Pine Valley CC.

Surviving are her children, Marvin Hamilton of Fort Wayne, Stephan (Ann) of Springboro, Ohio, Sandra (Bill) Hamilton of Oberlin, Ohio, Mike (Sally) Hamilton of Fort Wayne and Christine (Dave) Obergfell of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Jeff, Bob, Jamie, Brad, John, Ryan, Jennifer, Todd, Kim, Scott, Janelle, Michael and Thomas; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin E. Hamilton; brothers, Lawrence, Keith and John Flaningam; and sister, Lucille Brown.

Calling is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 14, at D.O. McComb and Son’s Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, and one hour before the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at First Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Wayne St., Fort Wayne. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Entombment will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, Fort Wayne Art League or Fort Wayne Museum of Art.
