Tom McCall - Class Of 1958

Tommy Alfred McCall

March 11, 1940 - June 1, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved husband, father, and Pop Pop - Tommy Alfred "Tom" McCall, 79, of Thorntown - passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on June 1, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

Tom was born on March 11, 1940 in rural Montgomery county, the third of five children of the late Hubert H and Doris Aline (Purdue) McCall and was raised in Thorntown, attending school at Thorntown High School and studying with the class of 1959. After leaving school after the tenth grade, Tom worked for 42 years for the railroad, retiring as a supervisor in 2005

On June 8, 1963, he married Yvonne A. Strong, who survives him after sixty wonderful years together, fifty-six of which they were happily married.

When Tom wasn't working, he enjoyed camping, fishing, working on small engines, and reading. He continued to work on lawnmowers and other small engines after retirement but in recent years, his pride and joy was keeping and entertaining his two great granddaughters after school and during the summer time.

Including his wife, Tom is survived by a daughter Carol (Tony) Keith, of Thorntown. Six grandchildren, Cassie Keith and companion Jeff Williams, Catie Keith and companion Matt Summers, Kasie Arterburn, Tori Arterburn-McCall, Maverick Keith, of Thorntown and Jessica Arterburn and companion Peter Oniyi, of Crawfordsville. Three great-grandchildren, Austin "AJ" Black, Aline "Ali" Williams, and Rogue Summers, of Thorntown. A sister, Linda Houser, of Thorntown. A brother, Danny McCall, of Oklahoma as well as many nieces and nephews. Including his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Arterburn and two sisters, Doris "Dorie" McNew and Francis "Fanny" Riley.

Toms wishes were to have no services so the family will be honoring those wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend the day with your loved ones because you never know when its going to be the last.
