Sarah Purdue (Cook) - Class Of 1947

Sarah Cook was former Thorntown resident
 
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Thorntown for Sarah Sue Cook, a former resident of that community.  Mrs. Cook, 58, of Frankfort, died Monday at the Park View Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne.
 
A Boone County native, she was born Oct. 17, 1928, the daughter of Lanus and Pansy (Byroad) Purdue.  She was married Nov. 26, 1946 at Thorntown to William R. Cook, who survives.
 
Also surviving are children Mary Ann Cook, Fort Wayne; Lawrence Wayne Cook, Frankfort; Richard Thomas Cook, Daytona Beach, Fla.; Leslie Cathlene Cook, Riveria, Ariz., and Benjamine Ray Cook, serving in the U.S. Army in Germany; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, and a sister Aline McCall of Thorntown.  She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
 
Mrs. Cook was a member of the Bible Baptist Church at Fort Wayne and attended the New Testament Baptist in Floral City, Fla.
 
She lived in Thorntown until she was married, when the couple moved to Fort Wayne for 12 years.  They then moved to Frankfort and she worked at the Thorntown Textile for some time.  She also worked for Unieltric at Frankfort, making wiring harness for refrigerators.  Her hobbies included knitting, quilting and writing.
 
The funeral will be at the Russell and Hitch Funeral Home, Thorntown, with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
