Patricia "Pat" Merrill (Howell) - Class Of 1955

 

Mrs. Marilyn Patricia “Pat” Merrill Howell, 81, of Lebanon, passed away Aug. 1, 2018, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. 

Pat was born May 18, 1937, in Thorntown, IN and graduated from Thorntown High School with the Class of 1955.  She is a daughter of the late Lawrence and Allegra (Young) Merrill. She married Oscar Howell on Feb. 8, 1990. He survives.

Pat worked at Parkwood for 18 years as the Dietary Manager. She later worked at Donaldson’s Chocolates in sales and packed chocolates including large orders at Christmastime. She was a long time member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.

Pat enjoyed working in her yard and garden. She traveled the U.S. and had been to 46 states plus Canada and Mexico. Pat had been a co-chairman for the 4-H Open-Show Photography exhibit. She took great pride in her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Oscar; sons: David (Julie) Wingate of Indianapolis, Tim Howell of Lebanon, Melvin Howell of Lebanon and Steve (Debbie) Howell of St. Petersburg, FL.; a daughter Cris (Mitch) Jester of Lebanon; grandchildren: Zacharie (Faith) Howell, Isaiah Howell, Alicae Howell, Charitie (Jonathan) Martino, Abigail (Lucas) Lietz, Ben (Erika) Howell, Wyn (Breanna) Jester, Josh (Allie) Westfall, Kara Westfall, Farrah (Jonathan) Westerfield of Maryville, TN and Kerri (Grant) Goodnight of Lebanon; great-grandchildren: Adelaide Martino, Noel Martino, Landon Jester, Ruby and Gus Westerfield and Ace and Annderson Goodnight. 

Her surviving brothers and sisters are:  brothers Keith (Ronna) Merrill of Frankfort and Ronald (Cynthia) Merrill of Thorntown; sisters Joyce Merrill of Thorntown and Barbara (Harold) McPeak of Lebanon along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Sandy Howell, brothers: Leon Merrill, Donald Merrill and Howard “Whitey” Merrill, and a sister BettyMerrill Gaither.

Family and friends will gather Sat., Aug. 4, 2018 for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Grubbs officiating.
