Mr. Robert Dewayne “Bob” Martin, 70, of Thorntown, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at his residence.

Bob was born Feb. 18, 1940, in Thorntown, to Lori and Marjorie (Davis) Martin. He was the eldest in the family of seven sons and five daughters.

He attended Thorntown High School and enlisted in the United States Marines. Being a Marine was very important to Bob.

He married Sally Lee Barber on June 13, 1970, in Crawfordsville; she survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Beth Ann Winchester; stepchildren, Tim Skow, Linda White, Robbie Skow, Randy Skow and Pam Marcy; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; stepson, Robbie Skow; and sister, Shirley Martin Hankins.

Bob was a member of the Thorntown Baptist Church.

He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and family.

Family and friends will gather from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 19, in the Strawmyer & Drury chapel, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with Chaplain Dave Clayton officiating. Bob will be laid to rest
