Mr. John Edward Koontz, 60, of Lebanon, passed away Feb. 11, 2015, at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, IL. John was born July 23, 1954 in Indianapolis, a son of the late Joseph and Opal (Baugh) Koontz. He married Tracy Buckingham on Sept. 1, 2000. She survives.
John graduated from Thorntown High School in 1973. He was a purchasing agent for Midwest Aircraft.
John enjoyed golfing, watching the Indianapolis Colts, vacationing and socializing with many of his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy; children Andy Koontz of Lebanon and Jamie Lawton of Indianapolis; siblings Rick (Carolyn) Koontz and Donna (Mike) Hankins all of Thorntown, Steve (Shelly) Koontz of Lebanon and David (Fortunada) Koontz of Bloomington; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Gary Koontz and Janet Koontz Lanpher.
Family and friends will gather Sunday, Feb 15, 2015 for visitation from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and services will be held on Monday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. John will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. I always looked up to John. He was really good in sports, outgoing and popular at high school. The funny thing I remember about John was his walk. He carried himself different than most, like a wrestler sort of. My condolences to his family, I am sure he was a great husband and father.

John was such a nice young man, I am saddend to hear of his passing. The whole Koontz family was very kind, and i always thought John and Rick were alot alike. Rest in Peace John, you deserve it.
