Donald Jay Tranbarger 

1953-2012

Mr. Donald Jay Tranbarger, 59, of Lebanon, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.

Mr. D. Jay Tranbarger, was born in Anderson, Indiana, on March 13, 1953, the son of Paul H. Tranbarger of Elizaville and the late Phyllis I. (Hunt) Tranbarger.

Reared and educated in Boone County, Indiana, Jay graduated from Thorntown High School in 1972.

On Aug. 19, 1973, in Thorntown, he was married to Pauletta Sue (Rader) Tranbarger. Mrs. Tranbarger survives.

Jay worked in the building trades field as a carpenter.  For the past twenty years, he worked as a building inspector and as a field agent for the Boone County Soil & Water Conservation District.  He took great pleasure in educating the kids of Western Boone and Lebanon High Schools about water and soil conservation.

Dedicated to his family, Jay loved spending time with all of them.  During the warmer months, he enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and blackberries for homemade jam.

He was a membership Antique Tractor Club and a former Reserve Deputy for Boone County.

Other survivors include daughter Mrs. Angela Jo Lauderman of Lebanon; son Mr. James Eric Tranbarger and wife, Julie of Cypress, Texas; three grandchildren Kaytee Grace Lauderman and William Bryan Lauderman of Lebanon, and James Riley Tranbarger of Cypress; two Brothers Mr. Paul Deane Tranbarger of Ft. Wayne, and Mr. Mark E. Tranbarger and wife, Marcy of Thorntown; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

In addition to his mother, Jay was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bruce Lauderman.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday; the Rev. Glen Jewell officiating

Interment will follow at the Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County.
