Barbara Kay Dickey

 Barbara Kay Dickey, formerly of New Market, passed away Saturday evening at Ben Hur Home. She was 78. She worked at Montgomery Ward for several years and then as a surgical tech at Ben Hur Surgical. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where she was Past President and held offices with the sixth district and chairmanships at the state level. She was a member of the 8 & 40 and was Past Chapeaux. She enjoyed golf, both watching and playing, but most of all, she enjoyed being with her grandkids. Born Feb. 27, 1940 in Lebanon, she was the daughter of Earl Robbins and Wilena Wise Robbins. She was a 1958 graduate of Thorntown High School. She married Robert E. Dickey on June 27, 1958 and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2017. Surviving family includes: son, Steve (Maggie) Dickey of Whiteland; two daughters, Sandra (Sam) Simmons of Waynetown, Sharon (James R.) Campbell of Summerville, SC; granddaughter, Andrea (Bill Golden) Campbell of Ocala, Florida; grandson, James Robert Campbell of Summerville, SC; granddaughter, Madison Campbell of Summerville, SC; grandson, Patrick Dickey of Whiteland; two step-grandchildren, Scott (Shawn) Simmons of Carol Stream, IL, Tricia (Billy) Hartley of Orlando, Fl; four great-grandchildren, Kiley, Eric, Evan and Colt. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Linda and Sharon. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM Friday, Dec. 14th at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Avenue, with services starting at 1 PM, led by Pastor Mike Parks. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.
