August 30, 1936 – September 13, 2019

THS Class of 1954

Robert Samuel Cranford, 83 of Henderson, Nevada, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday evening September 13, 2019. He was born on a farm in Thorntown, Indiana to Walter and Pauline Cranford. Robert graduated from Thorntown High in 1954 where he lettered in basketball and football. In 1955, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington; he was honored to serve his country.

It was during that same year, while in downtown Seattle, a beautiful brunette waved at this handsome young service man and his wave back would seal the next 63 years of their lives. They built a life in Seattle, Washington where Bob worked for Coca Cola and Oak Harbor Freight Lines. In 1994, Robert retired with his bride to Henderson, Nevada. He was not one to stand still, so he discovered his second career as Purchasing Agent for Boyd Gaming.

Bob is preceded in death by his former wife, his parents, and brother, Stan. He is survived by his bride, Anne Marie Cranford (Rasmussen); children: Karin Robinson of Colorado, Lorraine Chavez of Sequim, Washington, Cheryl Claypool (Greg) of Renton, Washington, R. Scott Cranford (Andree) of Escondido, California and Tamara Marsh of Issaquah, Washington. Bob cherished his ten grandchildren and his four great grandchildren.

A visitation for Robert will be held Monday, September 23, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM, both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, Nevada 89015.
