Wilma B. Maxwell, 87, of Lebanon and formerly of Thorntown, died Friday, August 8, at her residence. She was born in Indianapolis on February 14, 1927; the daughter of Carl and Aletha (Corrie) Dickson. She was married in Thorntown to Harry Maxwell on December 14, 1946. Wilma graduated from the Thorntown High School in 1945.

Wilma worked as a textile seamstress with the Thorntown Textile until her retirement in 1980. She lived in Thorntown for over fifty years. Wilma cherished the many friendships, great neighbors and the community she lived in.

Her memberships included the Widow’s Club of Lebanon. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, travelling, playing euchre and provided alterations for many years. When her husband was alive they belonged to the Friendly Steppers Square Dancers and enjoyed camping with the Good Sam’s.

Survivors include her children, Bren (Jeffery) Thompson of New Ross, Michael (Veronica) Maxwell of Kempton, Indiana, Dennis (Mary Jo) Maxwell of Montgomery, Alabama and sister, Doris (Jim) Davis of New Market, Indiana; grandchildren, Heather (John) Rollert of Florida, Jennifer (Brian) Ingle of Lafayette, Daniel Maxwell of Tipton, Victoria (Jake) King of Frankfort, David Maxwell of Tipton, Angela Roth of Missouri, Shannon Maxwell, Nicole (Jonathan) Bowen of Alabama, Jeffery (Kristi) Thompson of Griffith, Indiana and Melissa Thompson Beeson of Jamestown; fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Charles Dickson and sisters, Lois Joseph and Wanda Wainscott.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, August 16 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. with Larry Truitt officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Wilma will be laid to rest in the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
