Mrs. Mary E. Waggoner, 84, of Thorntown, died Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Homewood Health Campus, Lebanon.

Mrs. Waggoner was born Aug., 8, 1925, in Boone County. She was the daughter of the late Hershel and Ida (Stine) Davis. She graduated from Thorntown High School. She then attended Indiana Business College.

She married William I. Waggoner on April 20, 1946, in Atlanta, Ind. He died April 14, 1981.

Mrs. Waggoner worked for Fairfield Gear in Lafayette for two years. She then worked at Regal Market in Thorntown, Hankins Grocery Store and then Railers Grocery Store, for over 40 years. She retired in 2008.

Her hobbies were reading, playing cards, cooking for others and canning. She also was an avid Pacers and Colts fan.

Mrs. Waggoner was a member of Thorntown Christian Church and the Methodist Widow Group.

Survivors include son, Mike (Nancy) Waggoner of Lebanon; daughter, Merridy (Tom) Crow, of Thorntown; and two sisters, Joann Sebree of Anderson and Doris Salmon of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, Gerald, Woodrow, Herman and Max Davis; and one sister, Jane McClain.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home, 116 W. Plum, Thorntown. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Glen Jewell officiating. Burial will take place at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax.
