Mildred W. Prage, 90, of Thorntown, died August 30 at Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon. Mildred was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Boone County to the late Alfred R. and E. Maye (Clark) Warren. She graduated from Thorntown High School and then attended Beauty College in Indianapolis. In 1944 she married Maurice D. Prage; he preceded her in death. Mildred met Maurice, who was a government inspector, while working at Stewart Warner on the shell line. Mildred began her career as a hairdresser in her home while starting a family. Mildred worked for several different hair shops. She retired in 2005 at the age of 82 after 60 years of working. She loved to knit and crochet gardening, reading her Bible and being an active member of her church family. She attended Pleasant Hill Church and Thorntown United Methodist Church. Survivors include her children, Richard (Joyce) Prage of St. Louis, Mo., Stanley (Linda) Prage of Thorntown, Cynthia Davis of Antioch and Thomas Prage of Thorntown; sister Margaret Stafford of Plainfield; brother William J. (Dixie) Warren of Indianapolis, 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brother-in-law, J.C. Stafford. Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. There will also be visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4 with Pastor Karen Ottjes and Pastor Marilyn Cougar officiating in the Thorntown United Methodist Church, 201 N. Market St., Thorntown. Mrs. Prage will be laid to rest in the Bethel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Thorntown United Methodist Church.
