Jane, thank you for being such a delightful friend. When I moved to Thorntown in late 1958, Christmas was near and I knew nobody. But, the class of '60 took me in and made me feel welcome. Shortly after arriving in town, someone knocked on my door. Dick Timmons introduced himself and asked me if I wanted to go "bug" around town. Didn't know what bugging around town was, but I went for a nice tour of my new hometown. High schoolers tend to be very clickish, THS was not that way. I set out to find out why. Why was THS and Thorntown so friendly? The entire town and school was welcoming but there were a few ringleaders. Jane Gibbs was one of these unelected leaders. You lead by example. You reached out. As I followed you through life, you continued that role through teaching and mentoring all those who were lucky enough to meet you. They, too, were fortunate to have you in their lives. You were one of God's great gifts to us.

Again, thank you for being a delightful person in my life! Rest well, you have certainly earned it.
