James Bowen - Class Of 1958

Mr. James Bowen, 81, of Thorntown, passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.  He was born to Harry and Evelyn (Joseph) Bowen on Oct. 5, 1940.

James married Virginia “Ginny” Stephens on Feb. 14, 1960, celebrating 60 years of marriage. She preceded him in death Jul. 26, 2020.

James worked at Deluxe Check Printers for over 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Club and the Horseshoe Club. He coached Thorntown Little League and the all-star team, was a Cub Scout leader and played softball for the Deluxe Check Printing softball team.

James is survived by his brother, Terry (Lisa) Bowen of Pennsylvania; children: Teresa (Robert) Burtner of Mechanicsburg, Kim (Kevin) Lough of Thorntown, Bob (Anita) Bowen of Lebanon and Roberta (Tim) Caldwell of Lebanon; grandchildren: Jackie Burtner, Laura Bishop, Nick Lough, Jena Clark, Michelle Hall, Cody Lough, and Brayton Bowen; and great grandchildren: Kayleigh Cave, Keon Burtner, Kensley Burtner, Landry Iddings, Devin Dickerson, Jackson Hall and his deceased twin, Lilly Lough and Bennett Lough. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Gillan; three grandchildren, Robert Burtner, Jr., Crystal Devine and Matthew Ferch; and great grandson, Izak Clark.

James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed by many.

Family and friends will gather Monday, December 6 for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon.
