Jesse R. Martin, 82, passed away at his home in Lebanon, Indiana, on Thursday, November 2, 2023. He was born in Thorntown, Indiana, on September 6, 1941, a son of the late Art and Helen (Delaney) Martin.
On March 2, 1987, he married Janice (Begley) Martin in Las Vegas; she survives.
Jesse was a 1960 graduate of Thorntown High School. He worked for several years at Eli Lilly as a pipefitter and served as a member of their fire brigade. Jesse held memberships with the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 2062 and the Moose Lodge in Lebanon.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing music with his band, Jesse Martin and Pure Country Band. Jesse had fun entertaining family and friends with music and storytelling. He liked golfing, fishing and when winter would come around, Jesse loved to head south to North Fort Myers, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Janice (Begley) Martin; children, Jessica (Jeff) Evans of Jamestown and Chase Martin of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Justin Evans, Dalton Evans, Mason Martin, Chris Chupp, Anthony Chupp, Andrew Chupp and Erica Chupp; great grandchildren, Jasmine Chupp and Hunter James Chupp Erickson; and brothers, Don Martin of Thorntown, William (Norma) Martin of Lafayette and Harold Martin of Thorntown.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his daughter, Tristan Martin; stepdaughter, Erin Elaine Shinkle; and his sisters, Ilene Rampey and Joann Guthrie.
A Celebration of Life & Eagle Rites will be held Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fraternal Order of Eagles #2062 in Lebanon, Indiana. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his cremation.
