Robert “Bob” Whitinger, 58, of Boiling Springs, S.C., and formerly of Colfax, passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2011.
He was born on Dec. 3, 1953, to Raymond E. Whitinger and Barbara J. (Crow) Whitinger. He graduated from Thorntown High School in 1973. He worked for R.R. Donnelley in Warsaw for eight years, and then transferred to Spartanburg, S.C., retiring in 2001 due to health issues.
He was married to Vickie Mock, and they later divorced. They had a son, Drew, who survives.
Bob enjoyed his home in the South. He had a love for dogs, motorcycle riding, and was an avid reader of science fiction.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara Whitinger of Thorntown; son, Drew (Nichole) Whitinger and granddaughter, Kylie of South Carolina; brothers, Bill (Diana) Whitinger of Chicago, Ill., and Dick (Sara) Whitinger of Warsaw; sister, Suellen (Gene) Denny of Thorntown; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Whitinger.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Pleasant View Church, 5295 W. Ind. 32, Lebanon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Bob’s honor.
