John David Long, age 77, passed away on May 5, 2016. His parents were Don J. and Marjorie Darby Waddell Long. He was born in Indianapolis on December 27, 1938, and grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and Thorntown, Indiana, graduating from Thorntown High School and Purdue University. He married Grace Lucille Hamill, who survives, on August 7, 1960, and had two daughters, Jennifer Lucille Long Sonafrank (husband Steven) and Sarah Ann Long Lewis (husband Eric) and two grandchildren, Joshua Daniel Lewis and Corriann Noel Lewis Sommerville (husband Chad). He also leaves a sister, Carol Ann Long Nay (husband Donald) of Columbus, Ohio, six nieces and two nephews.

He was employed by Naval Avionics Facility Indianapolis and RCA/Thomson, working in computer management. He was a 55-year member of Irvington Presbyterian Church, having served as deacon and elder, sung in the choir, and played in the handbell choir and the brass ensemble, both there and at Christ Presbyterian Church in McCordsville. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives, (past president), and the Propylaeum Historic Foundation (past president).

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10th at Irvington Presbyterian Church, 55 Johnson Avenue, with calling at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Calling will also be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9th, at Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park East.
